City & Guilds NPTC level 2 Awards:

• Cross cut timber using a chainsaw

• Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting

• Felling and processing trees up to 380mm

• Branch removal and crown breakdown using a chainsaw

• Accessing a tree using a rope and harness

• Chainsaw maintenance

• Chainsaw maintenance and operations – occasional user

• Ground based chainsaw operations

• Tree climbing and rescue

• Safe use of manually fed wood chipper

• Safe use of using a mobile elevated platform (MEWP)

 

City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Awards:

• Felling and processing trees over 380mm

• Severing uprooted or windblown trees using a chainsaw

• Preparing and agreeing emergency tree work operations

• Emergency tree work operations

• Aerial tree rescue operations

• Aerial tree pruning

• Aerial cutting of trees with a chainsaw using free fall techniques

• Aerial tree rigging

• Safe use of a chainsaw from a mobile elevated platform (MEWP)

• Basic electrical knowledge

• Certificate of competence in utility arboriculture

• Certificate of competence in thorough examination of arboricultural equipment
